Executor cost

Professional executors can charge for acting on behalf of your estate.  Traditionally professional executors charge either a percentage of your estate, an hourly rate or both.

A typical firm of solicitors can charge as much as £20,000 for an estate worth £500,000.  Digilegal Trustees charge a fixed fee for acting as executor.  We offer two types of service, depending on how much your beneficiaries and other executors wish to be involved.

Our Simple Executorship Service is perfect for families who want to carry out most of the estate administration themselves. Our fees range between £450 and £3,000 depending on the size and complexity of an estate.

Our Full Executorship Service is ideal for more complex matters, or where beneficiaries and other executors do not wish to deal with the estate administration.

Your other executors and beneficiaries will also benefit from the Digilegal Trustees Promise.

Digilegal Trustees will confirm the fixed fee once the scale and complexity of the estate is understood.  Examples of fees for both types of service can be found below:

Simple Executorship Service cost examples

If you have an estate worth a few thousand pounds, with everything held in bank accounts, and leave everything to your spouse or civil partner, you will be charged £450.

If you have a more complex estate, consisting of property, bank accounts, some shares and investments, and a pension, and you leave various gifts in your will, you will be charged towards the higher end of the scale of £3,000.

Full Executorship Service cost examples

If your estate is small and straightforward like the first example above, we will charge in the region of £450.

If your estate is more valuable and complex, like the second example above, we will charge in the region of £5,650.

Your estate will also be charged valuation and professional costs in applying for probate.
