Signing and witnessing a last will and testament remotely

It has recently become possible to execute a will over a video conference call.  The government has released guidance on how to do this.

This should be done as a last resort only.  There are many ways that this can go wrong.  If you sign the will out of sight of the camera, if any of the witnesses do this, or if it takes too long for the will to be sent between you and the witnesses.  All of this could lead to all of your wishes being undone.

Our Head of Legal was quoted in the Financial Times and MoneyWeek outlining the dangers of wills executed this way.

If you can execute the will whilst self isolating you should do this.
